- A Call of Christian Conscience - |
|
Then they called them in again and commanded them not to speak or teach at all in the name of Jesus. But Peter and John replied, "Judge for yourselves whether it is right in God's sight to obey you rather than God. For we cannot help speaking about what we have seen and heard."
ACTS 4:18-20
I am a proud supporter of the Manhattan Declaration. As I've watched the moral erosion of our culture bleed into our laws over the past 30 years I am reminded of the old adage that "evil thrives when good men do nothing." One of our roles as Christians is to uphold the standards of God regardless of consequence when men write laws that demand for our personal compromise (ex: Daniel 3 & Acts 4). The Manhattan Declaration is a modern day line in the sand that says we will not abide by laws forced upon us that require Christians to disobey God in order to obey men. I wholeheartedly stand shoulder-to-shoulder with my fellow brothers & sisters in Christ on the side of the line that says we refuse to obey laws that require the compromise of our consciences & convictions. I recommend that all Christians read this declaration and prayerfully consider signing it. - Doug Garner
"Because we honor justice and the common good, we will not comply with any edict that purports to compel our institutions to participate in abortions, embryo-destructive research, assisted suicide and euthanasia, or any other anti-life act; nor will we bend to any rule purporting to force us to bless immoral sexual partnerships, treat them as marriages or the equivalent, or refrain from proclaiming the truth, as we know it, about morality and immorality and marriage and the family. We will fully and ungrudgingly render to Caesar what is Caesar's. But under no circumstances will we render to Caesar what is God's." | |

Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego replied to the king, "O Nebuchadnezzar, we do not need to defend ourselves before you in this matter. If we are thrown into the blazing furnace, the God we serve is able to save us from it, and he will rescue us from your hand, O king. But even if he does not, we want you to know, O king, that we will not serve your gods or worship the image of gold you have set up."

OPERATION RENOVATION (SEPT-DEC 2009)
GTD has been going hard for 14 years. Due to a harsh economy we experienced some major financial setbacks this summer. Despite the setbacks we are still going strong... rolling with the punches... adapting and overcoming! In fact, we will be using the next 4 months to renovate, improve and enhance GTD. We are calling it "Operation Renovation".
While we'll still conduct fundraisers & workdays over the next 4 months, I have prayed through and decided to clear our calendar of all public group events until Jan 2010. This will give us the needed time to make changes & improvements. We will use this time to restructure our policies & proceedures, complete our website, sell off old equipment, replace outdated vehicles, modify our yearly event goals, establish greater spiritual depth & focus, and a ton of other things. It's the perfect time to take all the lessons learned over the past 14 years and apply them to our next 14 years.
As we kick off Operation Renovation I ask that you check out our website frequently to see what God's doing in GTD. I will be blogging the entire journey. I also ask that all you GTD prayer warrior join us as we seek God for great things and His glory to be revealed throughout this time of renovation. Thank you for being a part of GTD! We look forward to the days ahead.
