ABOUT SNOWSHOE, WV

THE BEST IN THE SOUTHEAST! With 60 trails, 14 ski lifts and consistent snowfall, Snowshoe Mountain has a knack for delivering great ski conditions. The trail & ski lift numbers speak for themselves as they blow away the competition. Snowshoe offers more trails, more ski lifts, more vertical and just plain more fun than all other winter resorts in the region. Over the course of the last thirty five years Snowshoe Mountain has grown into the undisputed leader in winter sports in the Mid-Atlantic and Southeast. The combination of natural terrain and incredible facilities keeps groups returning to the mountain year after year. And the vast wilderness and rimfire sunsets truly make the experience memorable. Snowshoe Mountain can be described with a single word, “Wow!”

YOUR LIFT TICKET INCLUDES SILVER CREEK SLOPES: Snowshoe ski lift tickets are referred to as Freedom Lift Tickets. With this ski lift ticket, you have the Freedom to ski all day at both the Snowshoe and Silver Creek areas and then into the night as well at Silver Creek. It truly is the best winter has to offer!

    SNOWBOARDING VS SNOW SKIING
If you’ve never skied or boarded before you’ve got a decision to make. Since both are about movement and grace, the best advice is to go find a bunch of skiing and snowboarding videos and see which style appeals to you more. Snowboarding and Skiing are both exciting and popular winter activities. They are similar in some ways as you experience hours of downhill fun and excitement. On the other hand, these two sports also have several differences (see below). Either way, it is all about having fun. Each offers a different kind of snow experience, so whether you ride or ski down the slopes, Snowboarding and Skiing can provide the adrenaline rush and the adventure that you will surely look forward to every winter sport season.

SNOW SKIING: Skiers will tell you it is easier to learn the basics of skiing, as well as quickly ride off the lift and drop into a slope. You can generally progress faster on skis and conquer harder slopes quicker than boarding. Skiing is generally faster than snowboarding and the wipeouts can hurt (knee injuries are common in this sport). Also ski boots aren't very comfortable and can be difficult to walk in.

SNOWBOARDING: Snowboarders like the comfort of their boots, the ease of walking from place to place and the pure thrill of surfing down a mtn. For most new snowboarders the first day can be brutal because it's easy to "catch an edge" and sprain your wrists, bruise your tailbone & thump the back of your head. But the learning curve is steep. After a day of self inflicted injuries on the bunny slopes, most shredders progress quickly. The ski lifts are more challenging for snowboarders as well.

SNOW TUBING (Xtra Fee): Head over to the Tube Park @ Silver Creek and enjoy five lanes of tubing adventure! Slide down the 6 story tubing hill & experience the rush without having to walk back to the top. When you get to the bottom of the run, sit back and let the Handle Tow lift take you back to the top. Available Mon - Fri: 1-3p, 3-5p, 5-7p, 7-9p. Additional Cost: 2 hrs for $17.

SNOWMOBILING (Xtra Fee): The wind rushes in your face and the trees zip past as you head through the backcountry on a snowmobile. Snowmobiling is one of the most popular winter sports at Snowshoe. Guides will take you to some of the most spectacular parts of the mountain. Available daily from 4:45pm - 8:45pm. Additional Cost: 1 hr for $99. Advance reservations are recommended (Call 1-877-441-4FUN).
